Disinfecting the wound
Debriding the wound (clearing away damaged tissue and foreign objects)
Bandaging or stitching the wound
Prescribing antibiotics, if necessary

If you’ve encountered metal, he also ensures that you’re up to date on your tetanus vaccine.

If you’re diabetic or you have some other medical condition that prevents your feet from healing properly, Dr. Matey performs the above steps, but he watches over your wound more carefully to ensure that infection doesn’t take hold.
